Comparision between Cold - proof Nownoven Fabric and Plastic Film

Comparison Dimension Cold-Proof Non-Woven Fabric Plastic Film Cloth
Material & Structure Made of polypropylene (PP) as the raw material, it is a nonwoven fabric, mostly with a double-layer or three-layer composite structure, and has a soft texture. Made of resins such as polyethylene (PE) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC), it is a single-layer thin plastic film, with a relatively hard and brittle texture.
Air Permeability High air permeability; it can discharge water vapor inside the covering, avoid root suffocation of plants and fruit rot, and at the same time ensure the circulation of carbon dioxide and oxygen. Completely impermeable to air; it is easy to form a high-temperature and high-humidity environment inside the covering. When the day-night temperature difference is large, water vapor condenses, which is likely to cause plant diseases.
Light Transmittance The light transmittance is about 70%-85%. The light is soft and uniform, which does not affect the photosynthesis of plants and can also avoid fruit sunscald. It has strong light transmittance but the light is direct. It is prone to aging and yellowing after long-term use, leading to a decrease in light transmittance. The strong light may burn crop leaves.
Heat Insulation Performance The heat preservation effect is mild. It achieves heat preservation by locking the air layer, and the temperature fluctuation inside the covering is small, generally increasing the temperature by 2-4℃. The heat preservation effect is significant; it can quickly increase the temperature inside the covering, but the temperature fluctuates greatly. It is easy to cause high temperature and stuffiness in the shed at noon on sunny days, and the temperature drops rapidly at night.
Waterproof Performance The surface is hydrophobic, which can prevent frost, snow and light rain from penetrating, and can discharge internal moisture at the same time. The waterproofness is slightly weak in heavy rain. Completely waterproof, it can isolate rain and snow, but the internal water vapor cannot be discharged, which is easy to cause water accumulation.
Ease of Use Lightweight and soft, no need to build scaffolding; it can be directly covered on tree canopies and vegetable ridges, and fixed with ropes or ground nails, saving effort in laying and recycling. Brittle and hard texture, must be supported by scaffolding, otherwise it is easy to be blown broken or stretched and deformed by wind. Laying and recycling require multi-person collaboration.
Durability Strong tensile and tear resistance, can be reused for1-2 years, and is not easy to embrittle in low-temperature environments. Poor wind and tear resistance; it is easy to become hard and brittle in low temperatures, and prone to aging and damage after exposure to the sun. Ordinary models are mostly disposable or for short-term use.
Environmental Friendliness Some products are biodegradable, causing little pollution to the environment after disposal; non-biodegradable models can also be recycled and reused. It is difficult to degrade naturally, easily forming "white pollution" after disposal, and the recycling difficulty is high.
Application Scenarios Overwintering cold protection of fruit trees, heat preservation of vegetable seedlings, frost prevention of flowers, outdoor overwintering protection of potted plants. Greenhouse covering, mulch film covering, temporary rain shelter construction; suitable for short-term scenarios with low air permeability requirements and the need for rapid temperature rise.
